I'm fine, I'm free, I've not been thrown in a thai prison for a crime I didn't commit, although I was aparently about an hour away from that happening.

Briefly (because I'm sick of the whole matter), the girl I was staying next door to got a camera and phone nicked- not worth much, but she reported it. 2 weeks later the police told her I'd taken them, and that they had "evidence", and "witnesses". Of course, they had no such things, only the word of a few locals who for some reason claimed they'd seen me climb onto her balcony and enter her room (which I hadn't). My best guess is one of them took the stuff, or were covering for the person who did.

Anyway, she asked me about it, I persuaded her they were full of shit, and she got the police to drop the charges. Even so, I was pretty worried they'd come and arrest me anyway- the police over here are pretty unforgiving- but that was a week ago, and I've still free, so I should be alright- leaving the island on tuesday, and flying to australia on the 13th- earlier than planned. You're probably thinking I'm just being a bit paranoid, but yeah, but I just finished reading a book about a thai prison story where cockroaches lay eggs in people's *necks*, so forgive me.

Since then it's rained every day, giving the air a lovely smell of excrement from the overflowing drains. Yummy! I've now lost any last vestiges of a tan -hopefully it'll brighten up so I can hit the beach and brown up a bit, otherwise the first time I take my shirt off in australia the locals will be blinded by the utter whiteness of me. I wanted to do a cookery course up north in Chiang Mai, and it's a shame to miss out on that- the place offering day courses here is booked out but I'm ringing every day to check for cancellations. Oh, and there's a shooting range a couple of km away where you can shoot AK47s- might scooter out there tomorrow and have a blast :)

Phew, glad you're ok Jimmy. Was super worried for you. Why on earth would you read a novel about Thai prisons when in Thailand?! No wonder you were paranoid! Hope you get on the cookery course, I'll put the first order in for a red curry when you get back :P
Have a great time in Oz, I didn't get that job but mine is going permanent which means more cash so it might actually be a good thing really. Keep in touch, Beth xx

It sounds like an amazing crime thriller story to tell people when you're out of there!
